Getting started

Do I need an account to rent?

Yes — and an ID check before your first booking. It takes about two minutes and protects both sides: hosts know who picks up their gear, renters know hosts are real.

How do deposits work?

The deposit is held on your card when the host confirms, and released automatically the moment the return is confirmed. Rently never moves it to the host unless a dispute is decided.

Can I rent as a business?

Yes. Business accounts get VAT invoices, multiple team logins and fleet management for hosts. Upgrade from your account settings.

Pricing & fees

What does Rently cost?

Browsing and listing are free. Renters pay a 12% service fee per booking, shown before you confirm. Hosts pay nothing on standard listings.

How do payouts work for hosts?

Earnings arrive in your bank account 24 hours after a completed rental. Add your IBAN under account settings → payouts.

How should I price my listing?

A good rule of thumb is 1/20 of the item's value per day. The listing flow shows what similar items nearby actually earn.

Cancellation

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes — free until 24 hours before the rental starts, from your trips page. Later cancellations forfeit one day's rent; the deposit is always returned in full.

What if the host cancels on me?

You get a full refund immediately, including all fees, and we help you find a comparable item nearby.

Problems & disputes

The item was damaged or not as described — what now?

Report it within 48 hours of pickup (renters) or return (hosts) from the booking page. Add photos; our dispute team mediates, usually within 5 business days. Rently Protect covers verified damage up to €10,000.

How do I report a listing or user?

Use 'Report an issue' on any listing or conversation. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours and you always get a reasoned decision — no silent removals.
